Michael E. Matheron

Dr. Michael Matheron is an Extension Plant Pathologist and Professor at the Yuma Agricultural Center of The University of Arizona. He obtained a B.S. degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California at Davis in 1968, an M.S. degree in Plant Physiology from Oregon State University in 1973, and a Ph.D. degree in Plant Pathology from the University of California at Davis in 1984. Dr. Matheron’s extension outreach and research programs focus on the ecology and management of diseases occurring on vegetable crops that are caused by fungi and fungus-like plant pathogens. Research is focused on the development of new or the enhancement of existing management strategies for economically important plant diseases associated with desert southwest agriculture. Disease management programs are being developed or refined by integrating the use of biological, chemical and cultural disease management tools.
